MTA Testing Real-Time Commuting App ‘MYmta’ Ahead of Release
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is running internal tests on its new app ahead of its public launch, according to reports by amNewYork. The app is called MYmta and it will feature trip planning features for subways, buses, and commuter rails, real-time arrival information, and allow users to locate the nearest stations and bus stops across the MTA system.
It will also provide real-time information about elevator and escalator outages, subway service, and will allow commuter rail riders to buy mobile tickets.
The app is expected to be made available to commuters over the next few weeks, according to MTA spokesman Jon Weinstein. The new app will slowly replace the MTA’s current group of apps that have accuracy and usability issues.
